Abstract
People with HIV/AIDS experience rejection of their identity due to the negative image of HIV from wrong socialization and psychological, physical, social and economic problems experienced by PLWHA. The impact of this causes stress, depression, and even suicidal thoughts that can hinder the process of self-acceptance. The purpose of this study was to describe the problems of self-acceptance of PLWHA and the process of self-acceptance of PLWHA. This study uses qualitative descriptive with a case study research type, while the Snowball Sampling technique was used to obtain three PLWHA as research subjects. This study uses data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using an interactive model of qualitative data analysis (Miles & Huberman). The method used to ensure the validity of the data is a credibility test supported by data and source triangulation techniques. The results of this study are the problems experienced by PLWHA in self-acceptance include psychological, physical, social & cultural problems. Meanwhile, the process of self-acceptance of PLWHA begins with suffering that causes Aversion (Hatred), a period of contemplation gives rise to Curiosity (Curiosity), the process of knowledge and self-discovery (New Identity).
