Abstract
Acne or Acne vulgaris, is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that has a complex pathogenesis, including sebaceous glands, follicular hyperkeratosis, bacterial overgrowth, immune reactions, and inflammation. Acne occurs because the skin pores are blocked, which stops the secretion of sebum, which then enlarges and dries. This study aims to determine th effect of different levels of polyvinyl alcohol on the physicochemical characteristics of Acne patch preparations from betel leaf essential oil (Piper betle L.) and to determine the Acne patch formulation that best meets the requirements of the preparation test. Experimental research shows different physical quality results if the polyvinyl alcohol content is 5%, 6%, and 7% in the betel leaf essential oil patch preparation. The Acne patch formulation with a polyvinyl alcohol content of 7% best meets the test requirements.
