Abstract

Based on the research results, the problem was found that teachers'
teaching and learning activities still use conversional methods which only deliver
material that refers to teacher books and texts. Teachers are also still less than
optimal in using media that utilizes technology. The use of media is also limited,
the media often used by teachers are posters, objects around the class, and others.
However, teachers more often use media in the form of pictures around the
classroom which are felt to be less effective, so there is no variety of technologybased media, so teachers have difficulty conveying the material and learning is
less interesting. For this reason, researchers developed animated video-based
media as an aid in the teaching and learning process. This research aims to
determine the development of animated video-based media on "Photosynthesis,
the most important process on earth" in class III of elementary school.
This research uses the development of the ADDIE model which consists of
five stages, namely: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and
Evaluation. This researcher used observation, interviews, questionnaires and
documentation techniques. The data analysis techniques used are qualitative and
quantitative.
The results of the research produced a product in the form of an animated
video. Validation data from material experts obtained a percentage of 84.0%,
validation from media experts received a percentage of 83.3% with very good
qualifications, and validation from learning experts received a percentage of
94.4% with very good qualifications. Meanwhile, the results of the effectiveness of
animated video media were obtained from the summative question scores with a
percentage of 90.5% and the student response data obtained 94.4%. These results
show that animated videos are very interesting and suitable for use in elementary
schools.
