Abstract
This research aims to determine the effectiveness and use of the Scrabble game media in improving Arabic speaking skills in class X SMA Surya Buana Malang. This research uses a quantitative approach and a pre-experimental type of research with a One-group Pretest-Posttest design. The population and sample are 19 class X SMA Surya Buana Malang students. The data collection uses Pretest and Posttest techniques, observation and questionnaires. Then, analyze an instrument by testing validity and reliability. Data analysis using normality test, paired T-test and N-gain test or effectiveness test. The application of Scrabble game media in class X SMA Surya Buana Malang was carried out by forming five groups to play in turns and then compose and recite sentences. Based on the implementation of the Scrabble game media, it can be seen that learning in class X SMA Surya Buana Malang is more active compared to when the Scrabble game media was not implemented. The research results can be seen from the results of the T-test where the number of sig obtained is 0.000 < 0.05 so that Ha is accepted. Then from the results of the N-Gain Test, the average Pretest score was 66.89 and Posttest 84.21. Measured by the percentage level of effectiveness of students' scores, the average Pretest and Posttest scores after being given treatment are in the medium category because 53.16 is between 30 ≤ N-gain ≤ 70. So it can be concluded that the use of the Scrabble game media is effective in improving students’ Arabic speaking.
