Abstract
Background: Aloe vera, caffeine and vitamin E have activities as moisturizers and antioxidants on dry facial skin. Made in the form of emulgel with a carbomer base because the gelling agent can form a good preparation.
Objective: To determine the effect of variations in the levels of carbomer base gelling agent on moisturizer emulgel preparations with active ingredients of aloe vera, caffeine, and vitamin E which are able to produce the best preparation with the Freeze thaw test.
Method: This study used an experimental method. This type of research was conducted to determine the effect of variations in carbomer levels of 1% in Formula 1, 1,5% in Formula 2, 2% in Formula 3 as a base gelling agent for moisturizer emulgel preparations which were then tested for their characteristics and stability. Results and Conclusions: Variations in carbomer levels in emulgel preparations with active ingredients of aloe vera, caffeine, and vitamin E affect the characteristics of the preparation in the form of organoleptic, pH, viscosity, and spreadability and affect its stability as proven by the Freeze thaw test.
