Abstract
DDoS attacks are one of the threats in the digital era because they disrupt the availability of services on systems and infrastructure in everyday life. Effective DDoS attack mitigation techniques are very necessary because some mitigation techniques do not work well or do not even work at all. In this follow-up research, the author tested the Mikrotik firewall as a DDoS attack mitigation because Mikrotik has an affordable price with lots of features so it is very suitable for use on LAN networks. The attacks used in this research are SYN flood, UDP flood, HTTP flood, DNS flood, and smurf attack. Measurement of the level of effectiveness is taken from the level of DDoS attacks and the use of CPU and RAM resources on servers and routers for 60 seconds before and after mitigation is carried out. Mitigation techniques using a Mikrotik firewall have been proven to reduce the level of attacks and resource usage but have hardware limitations in mitigating attacks.
