Abstract
Background: Indonesia ranks 6th in the world for deaths due to diabetes. One of the pillars of diabetes control is medication, which is closely related to medication adherence. Compliance with the use of oral antidiabetic drugs is very necessary for the success of long-term treatment and can increase the effectiveness of good therapy for DM patients. The success of OAD therapy is determined by patient compliance in using oral antidiabetic drugs properly and correctly using the Health Belief Model (HBM) theory.
Objective: Analyzing what factors influence compliance with the use of oral antidiabetic drugs in DM patients at RSI Aisyiyah Malang City based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) theory.
Method: Analytical observational research in the form of a cross sectional design on DM outpatients who were taking oral antidiabetic medication (OAD) by administering a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression tests to measure the influence of five HBM components, namely (1) perceived susceptibility, (2) perceived severity, (3) perceived benefit, (4) perceived barrier, and (5) self-efficacy on patient compliance in using correct oral antidiabetic.
Result and Conclusion: In the validity test it has shown that it is valid and in the reliability test it has also shown that it is reliable. The normality test that has been carried out also has a normal distribution. Each of the five HBM components has a significant influence on adherence to oral antidiabetic use. Simultaneously or together the five components of HBM also have a simultaneous influence on compliance with oral antidiabetic use. In the coefficient of determination test, Compliance can be explained by five HBM components. This research can be used as a basis for developing further research. To increase compliance, interventions need to be carried out by considering each Health Belief Model factor.
