STRATEGI PT JASA RAHARJA PERWAKILAN KOTA MALANG DALAM MENGURANGI KECELAKAAN LALU LINTAS MELALUI PEMBERDAYAAN SUPELTAS (SUKARELAWAN PENGATUR LALU LINTAS)

The purpose of this research is to know the empowerment of traffic controller volunteers used by PT Jasa Raharja Malang Branch to reduce road accidents that keep increasing every year. This is a new strategy by PT Jasa Raharja Malang Branch after implementing several previous strategies, such as socialization and training of safety riding, placing banners at high-risk accident spots, and conducting safety campaigns. This research used a qualitative descriptive method by doing interviews. The collected data are results after doing interviews and observation by researcher with PT Jasa Raharja Malang Branch, Malang City Police Station and Traffic Controller Volunteers. Research results showed that PT Jasa Raharja Malang Branch has a new strategy to reduce road accidents by empowering traffic controller volunteers. They are taught 12 traffic regulation movements in advance so they can regulate the traffic well. They do their job at intersections in Malang City to reduce fatal accidents and avoid congestion. At every intersection, there are three to four traffic controller volunteers and they work in shifts. This strategy is also implementation of service improvement by PT Jasa Raharja. The presence of traffic controller volunteers can hopefully increase traffic discipline and security for road users.
