Abstract
From the post-colonial era to the present day, feminism has developed as a movement for gender equality for women. The movement aims to counter various forms of injustice experienced by women in various aspects of their lives, such as politics, social, and economics. One of the media used to voice feminism issues through the movie "Barbie" shown in theaters.
The research aims to find out how feminism represents in the film "Barbie 2023" (Live Action). Barbie's 2023 film is a work that raises the theme of women's empowerment and resistance to patriarchy, with . represent a wide range of feminism. The theory used is Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotics analysis theory known as the Triangle of Meaning Theory. Peirce's theory of Triangle of Meaning is defined by representation, object, and interpretant. The focus of her research was the film's object, Barbie's 2023 film, which selected scenes of images and conversations between film actors representing feminism. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques through observation, documentation and library studies, thus producing descriptive data in the form of written words.
Research has shown that the representation of feminism in the film Barbie 2023 depicts feminism's issues of gender equality, gender discrimination, and women's autonomy and choice. From the results already mentioned, it was concluded that Barbie's 2023 film broke society's stereotypes about women through independent, strong, and rightful representations of women to choose their own roles.
