Abstract

This study aims to determine the management of calf feeding, nutritional adequacy of Calf starter (CS1) in meeting nutritional needs and to determine feed consumption that affects calf body weight growth. The material used was calves aged 1-2 months, CS1, which were taken as a sample of 19 breeders. The variables observed in this study used the observation survey method, determining responding (breeders), observing feeding management as well as observing changes in calves such as; health, body weight and behavior in livestock. Analysis of nutritional adequacy with data on the amount of consumption of Calf Starter and Daily Body Weight Gain obtained by comparing the two so that a study of nutritional adequacy can be carried out. Data collection methods namely; qualitative data from direct measurements and qualitative results from dialogue or interviews with respondents. Data analysis is presented in tables according to the variables measured and quantitative descriptive analysis. The research results show that maintenance management is influenced by feed consumption, nutritional needs and also body weight gain. The conclusion from this research is that the management of feeding given CS1 feed is very influential for the survival of calves, both health and body weight gain, meet the adequacy of the calf's nutritional needs by consuming complete feed ingredients and nutrition whose main function is to increase the physical development of the rumen in calves, Cattle spend and consume feed every day so that they experience weight gain every day.
