Abstract
A producer is someone who has responsibility for overseeing the production of a film. The producer has several tasks during pre-production, production, and post-production, including managing the production such as planning, optimizing the design, supervising, and marketing to achieve the desired goals. This creation aims to understand the implementation of the producer's role in the documentary film Second Character. The documentary Second Character discusses the world of cosplay and the stigma cosplayers face in the eyes of society. Cosplay is a combination of the words "costume" and "play," which involves imitating fictional characters by wearing costumes and reenacting scenes of the characters. The phenomenon of cosplay in Indonesia has rapidly grown in line with the entry of Japanese culture and the strengthening of digitalization.
Through the documentary Second Character, the creator conveys the idea and message to the audience in an interesting and creative way. Through in-depth research, this documentary contains facts and events in the world of cosplay. The issues that arise affect cosplayers, such as negative stigmas against them and the sexual harassment they experience. One of the most influential factors is the understanding of popular culture, which includes cosplay. Cosplay is not only focused on Japanese characters, but can also feature Indonesian characters such as national heroes and unique fictional characters from Indonesia, which would enhance the love for Indonesian culture.
