Abstract
The female body is the most attractive aspect of a woman, making its beauty a focus for many business sectors, particularly in the film industry. It seems incomplete if a film does not feature a woman with all her allure. In reality, women’s roles in mass media are often portrayed merely as sexual objects. This research employs a qualitative approach with an interpretive research type and a foundation in semiotic analysis. The aim is to analyze how the representation of the meaning of female body exploitation symbols is depicted in the film Photocopier. Data collection is carried out using documentation by capturing scenes or images from the movie. The theoretical basis of the research utilizes Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis theory.
The findings indicate several scenes considered to exploit the female body. The subjects of this study are nine scenes chosen based on the meaning of female body exploitation. The results of these nine scenes reveal that the film Photocopier contains elements that symbolize the exploitation of the female body. This exploitation is depicted through gestures, behaviors, character expressions, and physical portrayals such as body shape and the character's manner of dressing. Each instance of the symbol of female body exploitation can be illustrated through interactions, behaviors, characteristics, and gestures toward others.
