Abstract

The focus of this study is the ak-Qura>n
learning literacy model in the Islamic College through
the Quran reading learning program for student at the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Kediri.
The al-Quran learning literacy program was initiated by IAIN Kediri in order to minimize
problems that occur on campus, namely regarding the number of students who turn out to
have low competency in reading Quran though the image possessed by graduates of Islamic
Religious college is that of academic and religious competence. The focus of the research
taken by the researcher were the form of the al-Quran literacy model at the IAIN Kediri and
the impact of the implementation of the al-Quran literacy model. This study uses a
constructivism research paradigm with a descriptive qualitativs approach and a type of case
study research. The data collection method comes from the result of field observations,
interviews, and several research document, while the research informants are the person in
charge of the al-Quran literacy program, the manager, tutor and student. Data analysis
techniques used interactive model through data condentation and drawing conclusions. The
result showed that the implementation of the al-Quran literacy model at IAIN Kediri
included: 1. Forming a homogeneous class based on the cognitive competence of the student;
2. Maximizing the cognitive and affective competence of the tutors as a controller for the
continuity of al-Quran literacy; 3. Mazimizing the collaborative result of modelling, drilling
and habituation methods in the al-Quran literacy model, and 4. Strngthening the quality of
student reading through tahsin and tashih carried out by tutor and managers of al-Quran
literacy. The things that contribute to the implementation of this model are the motivation
both intrinsic and extrinsic, namely reward and punishment. This model is proven to be
effective by looking at the percentage increase in student reading competence. The formal
findings in this study are the literacy learning model of the Quran in IAIN Kediri, namely
MANTEB (Modelling, Observing, Imitating, Tahsin, Evaluation and Habit.
