Abstract

This study aims to analyze the content tendency of the concept of heroism in the 104-minute animated film “My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising” directed by Kohei Horikoshi, which was released in 2019. The unit of analysis of this film is the scenes and dialogues in the film that depict various categories of heroism such as courage, useful, determined, inspiring, faith, protector, savior, and self-sacrificing. This research uses a quantitative approach, descriptive type, and content analysis method. The results showed eight main elements that contribute to heroism in movies. While courage and self-sacrifice are often the hallmarks of heroes in general, the most prominent characteristic in My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising is determination. This shows that the film emphasizes perseverance and determination in the face of conflict as the basic aspects of heroism.
