Abstract

Background : Diabetes Mellitus is a degenerative disease that occurs in the elderly because they only produce insulin in small amounts, since insulin cannot be used effectively and will experience an increase in blood glucose. In Indonesia there are ≥10.8 million people experiencing DM. Complications that arise include macrovascular disorders, microvascular disorders and neuropathy. In this Final Scientific Work the case of Mr. J who suffers from DM. For this reason, this final scientific work aims to explain the process of nursing care for Mr. J with DM given non-pharmacological therapy, namely diabetes foot exercise therapy to reduce blood glucose levels.
Method : The research method used in preparing this Final Scientific Work uses a case study report. The author follows the scientific method according to the rules of the Nursing Process which includes: Assessment, Data Analysis, Nursing Intervention, Implementation and Evaluation. In the assessment process the author used various data collection techniques such as Anamnesis, Observation, interviews, Documentation Study and Physical Examination to collect various data from the patient, namely Mr. J to complete the data.
Results : After providing Nursing Care for 3 consecutive days, the author raised 3 Nursing Diagnoses, namely: Ineffectiveness of Blood Glucose Levels b.d Pancreatic Dysfunction, Acute Pain b.d Physiological Injuring Agents, Knowledge Deficit b.d Lack of Exposure to Information.
Discussion : Nursing problems of unstable blood glucose levels in DM patients arise due to non-compliance with diet, lack of exercise, and so on. So the recommended therapy needed for patients is diabetes foot exercises to lower blood glucose levels.
