Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the development of the "FRA"
(Fun Reading Activities) learning model in the reading comprehension skills of
fiction texts of grade V students of MI Darul Ulum Blandongan. This is done based
on the needs analysis, namely the selection of learning models that are not yet
appropriate and the lack of innovation and creativity in applying learning models.
The teacher still uses a direct learning model, by listening to explanations from the
teacher, then giving students the opportunity to read for about 15 minutes and
continued with questions and answers and assignments related to reading so that the
ability to read comprehension in Indonesian language subjects of fiction story
material received by students is not optimal, Based on this, the material of
Indonesian language learning fiction stories in the reading comprehension skills of
grade V students of MI Darul Ulum Blandongan requires a learning model that can
support the learning process in the classroom.
This study uses the R&D (Research and Development) development
research model with research steps including (potential and problems, data
collection, product design, design validation, design revision, product trials, product
revision, usage trials, product revision, mass production). The subjects of this study
were fifth grade students of MI Darul Ulum Blandongan, totaling 29 students.
While the instruments in this study used questionnaire guidelines, observation
guidelines, and interview guidelines. Data collection techniques used in this study
include observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. The data
analysis technique uses two techniques, namely quantitative and qualitative data
analysis.
The results of the validation of the learning model get a percentage value of
91% with a very feasible category while the material expert validation gets a
percentage value of 91% with a very feasible category. The response questionnaire
filled out by students received a percentage value of 80.7% of 29 students, while
the response questionnaire filled out by the class teacher received a percentage value
of 84%. In line with this, the "FRA" (Fun Reading Activities) learning model can be
applied to Indonesian language learning of fiction story material in reading
comprehension skills of grade V elementary school students. This research can be
used as a reference for further research, especially on fictional story material in
reading comprehension skills, or can be expanded to other materials.
