Reading can be considered a window of knowledge if students have difficulty understanding the contents of the book. The statement highlights the benefits of reading, including how reading can increase a person's awareness and knowledge. Reading increases intelligence, gathers knowledge, and expands a person's self-awareness.
This study aims to describe the development of letter dice media with word cards on the reading skills material of grade 1 children. This study uses research and development. The development model used in this study is the ADDIE development model. There are five stages in the ADDIE development model, namely: 1) analysis, 2) design, 3) development, 4) implementation, 5) evaluation.
This study produced a learning media product called Letter Dice Media with the Help of Word Cards, with the main material being 5-centimeter wooden dice and having colors used to distinguish vowel and consonant sounds. Word cards are made using white Buffalo Paper, then laminated to a size of 9 × 12 cm. The conclusion that can be drawn from the validation results with material and media experts is that the letter dice media with the help of word cards is well prepared, meets the requirements of validity, practicality, and usability. Thus, it can be seen that this Letter Dice Media with the help of word cards is feasible (valid) to be used in the learning process to improve the understanding of beginner readers in first grade elementary school students.
