Abstract
Development in an area is said to be developing if it can manage its human resources properly. Therefore, the efforts made by the government are to build a prosperous society. One of the ways is by creating jobs and absorbing a broad workforce in an area. However, this is still followed by problems in the field of employment with the main cause being unemployment. This study aims to determine the types of employment and how the level of absorption of labor in the Coffeeshop Dermo area, Mulyoagung Village, Malang, East Java. In this study using qualitative research methods with descriptive research types, and using purposive sampling techniques in determining research subjects. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, interview, and documentation methods. In drawing conclusions and verification. Meanwhile, the data validity technique uses source and method triangulation. The results of this study include: (1) there are five types of jobs in Coffeeshop Dermo, namely: person in charge, barista, cashier, cleaning service, and vehicle parking attendant. (2) The level of employment in the Dermo Coffeeshop area is dominated by students compared to the surrounding community. The amount of labor absorption in the Dermo area is said to be good but there is still a minimum number of workers from the surrounding community.
