Abstract
This study investigates the dynamics of student-lecturer communication on WhatsApp, focusing on the types of messages sent and the patterns and etiquette of students when interacting with lecturers on WhatsApp. Utilizing an online survey method, 48 participants completed a questionnaire via Google Forms. The findings reveal that most students use WhatsApp primarily for academic purposes, maintaining a formal and respectful tone. A significant portion of students believe that ethical communication enhances the support and guidance they receive from lecturers. However, experiences with timely and helpful responses vary, indicating the need for consistent communication practices. Ethical concerns, such as message appropriateness and privacy, are common, underscoring the importance of clear communication guidelines.
