Abstract

English has become one of the most essential languages in today's world, serving as a global lingua franca that facilitates communication across diverse cultures and nations. Consequently, introducing English to young children at the elementary school level is vital for their future academic and professional success. The diverse methods and media used in schools often lead to questions about which approach is the most effective in enhancing language acquisition among young learners. This research aims to evaluate the effect of the song "How is The Weather" on vocabulary improving using Total Physical Response (TPR) activities for young English learners. The participants of this study were one classroom of 3rd-grade students, aged 8-9 years old, at MI Baipas Malang. The study's design involved a quantitative approach, particularly a pre-experimental design, Data were collected and analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test to ensure the statistical validity of the findings. The pre-test was administered to gauge the students' initial vocabulary knowledge, followed by a series of lessons incorporating the "How is The Weather" song and TPR activities. After the intervention, a post-test was conducted to measure the vocabulary improvement. Based on the analysis, the researchers found that the "How is The Weather" song had a significant positive effect on the participants' vocabulary acquisition. The results indicated a marked improvement in the post-test scores compared to the pre-test scores.
