Abstract
Education serves as a crucial pillar in preparing the younger generation to face current global challenges. At SMPN 8 Sampit, learning outcomes in Natural Sciences (IPA) present challenges such as inadequate conceptual understanding and limited variation in teaching methods. To address these issues, this study aims to implement guided inquiry learning as a teaching strategy expected to enhance students' understanding of IPA concepts and develop their critical thinking skills. Through this approach, a significant improvement in IPA learning outcomes is anticipated, equipping students to become independent learners ready to adapt to future changes. This research employs a qualitative approach by observing and analyzing learning activities over four cycles. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, and document analysis, which are thematically analyzed to identify trends and patterns in learning. Participants consist of teachers and students from 8th grade C at SMPN 8 Sampit. Intervention strategies encompass collaborative lesson planning, interactive learning tools, and formative assessment to monitor student progress. Based on the syntax applied in this study, it can be concluded that the consistent use of guided inquiry methods consistently demonstrates significant improvement in students' understanding of the human respiratory system material. Well-structured planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages support a systematic and directed learning process. However, the research also highlights the importance of continuously developing strategies to address challenges in managing variations in students' attention levels to maximize learning outcomes further. Thus, the application of this syntax not only succeeds in enhancing students' academic achievement but also provides valuable guidance for improving learning effectiveness in the future
