Abstract
Background: Anemia is a body condition where the level of hemoglobin (Hb) in the blood is lower than normal. According to the World Health Organization, the prevalence of anemia in the Southeast Asia region in 2019 was 46.6% and in Indonesia it was ranked fifth with a prevalence of anemia of 31. 2%. How to overcome the problem of anemia must be treated immediately, various therapies such as pharmacological and non-pharmacological which can increase hemoglobin levels in the blood.
Purpose: The purpose of writing this Final Scientific Paper for Nurses is to find out Nursing Care for Mediastinal Tumor Patients with Anemia: Case Study
Method: The research method used is a descriptive research approach with a qualitative case study research strategy. The subject of the study was Mr. A, 20 years old with a diagnosis of
mediastinal tumor with anemia, the therapy given was pharmacological therapy of blood
transfusion of 2 packs per day and non-pharmacology by giving 5 dates 2 times a day before meals in patients with anemia. This research was conducted in the Pangandaran room of Dr.
Saiful Anwar Hospital on April 15 - April 18, 2024.
Results: After the intervention of blood transfusion and consuming dates for 3 consecutive days, the results showed that the patient was not weak, dizziness improved, pale skin color improved, acral improved, appetite improved, hemoglobin levels increased. The hemoglobin level before the intervention was 6.50 g / dl, and after the intervention the hemoglobin level increased to 12.50 g / dl.
Conclusion: From the results of this study, it can be concluded that blood transfusion intervention and providing nutrition to patients by consuming dates can increase hemoglobin levels in anemia patients.
