Abstract

This research aims to determine the community's social support for children with special needs in the Ngantru Pilot SLB environment, Ngnatang District, Malang Regency. This research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach. The subject of this research is purposive sampling. The data collection techniques used in this research include 1. Observation 2. Interviews and 3. Documentation techniques. Data analysis was carried out using qualitative analysis, namely by grouping data based on variables obtained from all respondents (Sugiyono 2018). The research results show 1. Emotional support, in the form of showing feelings of empathy, sympathy, attention and affection for children. This has a very positive impact on children's emotions, especially when children are stressed and depressed 2. Appreciative Support, namely by providing appreciation and recognition for children's achievements and efforts in any case, both in learning and playing 3. Instrumental Support, in the form of fulfilling basic needs in the form of material assistance such as money and school facilities as well as service support in the form of therapists for children. 4. Information support, namely assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs, namely by collaborating with outside parties (Omah Gembira Community). He results of the research also found problems in the education aspect of children with special needs, namely that some children do not go to school due to several factors such as parents who prefer gardening rather than taking their children to school, apart from that there are parents who cannot ride motorbikes to take their children to school, so This means that children are forced not to take part in learning in the school environment like other children.
