Abstract

Learning the Koran is an important aspect of Islamic education which aims to
improve the ability to read, understand and practice the teachings of the Koran in
everyday life. Tahsin teachers have a very vital role in this process. Tahsin itself
means improving, and in the context of learning the Qur'an, this term refers to
improving the reading of the Qur'an so as to achieve correct recitation and correct
pronunciation. The aim of this research is to determine the role, impact and
obstacles of tahsin teachers in improving the ability to read the Al-Qur’an. This
research uses a qualitative approach. This type of research is a case study and data
collection using observation, interviews and documentation methods.
The results of this research show that the role of the tahsin teacher in improving the
Al-Qur'an reading skills of students is as a guide, motivator and evaluator so that
with this role the students are able to read the Al-Qur'an well and correctly. The
impact of the role of a tahsin teacher is increasing the ability to read the Koran,
increasing motivation, a sense of caring between friends, while the obstacles are the
influence of the environment, mass media, lack of attention from parents,
inadequate facilities and time allocation.
