Abstract

In making movies, ads, or video clip punk often found as an ornamental figure of a director's creative ideas to beautify and simplify the work that is displayed to get sympathy from the audience, the punk, or ordinary people. Punk used as an object that can be used as consumer allure. In the film Punk in Love by Ody C. Harahap also use object punk community. From where researchers want to know the meaning of the punk community representation in the film Punk in Love by Ody C. Harahap. Representation is a process of social representing. Representations can mean the process of changing ideological concepts are abstract in the concrete forms. The representation also represents or symbolizes or show an image, picture, dramatic appearance. Representation is a vital way to support the ideology of a culture: worldview­subject is subject to discipline. The concept of representation is also closely linked with the concept of repetition (repetition): could be argued that the word, for example, is the only representation received from a number of things that may be repeated that is reused in different contexts. So the representation of the punk community is the description of a punkers from a conjecture. While the film is the dominant form of visual mass communication in this world. This study uses a semiotic approach to the type of research interpretative. The focus of this study is the punk community representation in the film Punk in Love by Ody C. Harahap. While the scope of the film Punk in Love by Ody C. Harahap. For this study the unit of analysis are some scenes in the film, both in terms of audio (voice) or visual (picture). Data analysis technique in accordance with the semiotics of Roland Barthes, if you want to find the meaning, then that is first of all the data are grouped according to their own kind which is then analyzed with respect to the meaning denotative and connotative. Based on data analysis has been done, the movie punk in Love Works Ody C. Harahap was found that of punk and music, punk in this film represents a community that whiny, outdated, old people, from among the middle­down, do not have the struggle of life and has no shame. In public spaces, the punk community represented in this film that the punk community likes to make trouble, people are weak and not robust in the face hard life. In this film also represents that the punk community is people who do not believe in the existence of god and god only remember if you have the will alone. In the balance of public space, punk in the film is represented as a person who is weak, a loser. Punk community in the film is also represented as people who are not consistent through life, glamorous, pleasure­loving and likes to insult. In the film Punk in Love, representing that punk is a child who does not want to think, who just completed a problem with any muscle or strength, and cowards.
