Abstract

Conflict could happen to everybody and in any where. With person, other person or with other groups. It is also including the conflict that happens to the activist students in the student organization. In joining organization, students could earn a lot of advantages. They would learn how to responsible at their duties. They also learn how to understand and accepting the other person’s opinion. In joining organization, it means that someone would interact with other people. When someone is interacting with other people, he usually has problem with them or usually called as interpersonal conflict. The purpose of this research is to know the composition of the interpersonal conflict that faced by the activist students. The interpersonal conflict is a conflict that appears which caused by the differences of ideas, issues, acts, targets and aims between one to another person that has the needing to protect his image and respect that sometimes it is substantive or emotional. While the activist students are-the students that are not only concern to their study, but they are also expecting to be conspicuous, popular, wanted to seen as a person that has personal concept, experience, and different pressure with common students. In this research, the researcher uses the descriptive quantitative method. The research was conducted on 23rd to 25th of May 2008 at Universitas Brawijaya Malang with the research samples are one hundred activist students. In collecting the data, the researcher uses likert scale, which is the scale of the Interpersonal Conflict. In analyzing the data, the researcher uses T-score for establishing the high-low categories of the interpersonal conflict and Chi-square to determine is there any significant difference or not between the frequency that have gotten by the expecting frequency in population. The result is, there is no any significant difference between the activist students which has high interpersonal conflict and the activist students which has low interpersonal conflict. This case is appropriate with the score of Chi-square which is 1,00. And the total is 55% students that have high interpersonal conflict, and 45% students that have low interpersonal conflict, and the most dominant aspect is misunderstanding aspect.
