Abstract
So far math is always viewed as a difficult subject to understand, making it less attractive to most students. Learning in school tend to be theoretical and focused only on the course handbook. Through peer learning model strategy students are expected to solve a problem with a few techniques / motode with the power of reason they are not only fixed what is delivered by the teachers. This study aims to determine the activity of students, students' mathematical communication skills, and mastery learning. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach. The research is descriptive research. Subjects in this study is the model of Peer Lessons in learning mathematics. While the object of this research is class VIIA Junior High School I Sukapura Probolinggo Sukapura address at the village district. Sukapura Kab. Probilinggo with the number of 38 students. Methods data collecting is using observations, and tests. While the instrument used is the observation of student activity sheets, observation sheets math student communication skills, and test student learning. Data analysis is descriptive and qualitative. The results showed: a) Every activity of students in learning mathematics by using a model material Peer Lessons on integers, is getting increase from the first meeting until the last. From 5 per cent of activities of the largest average is listening activities amounted to 87.27% with the criteria very well. b) communication skills mathematics students in learning mathematics by using a model material Peer Lessons on integers, there are two pattern of mathematical communication skills of the students. Mathematical communication skills verbally and written. Students’ math ability in oral communication with the average percentage of 80% with good criteria, students’ communication skills in writing mathematics average percentage of 70% with good criteria. c) student mastery based on the final test results, according to (School Standards) of the 38 students, there are 4 students who are not exhaustive, and 34 students who completed their study with a total percentage of 89.45%, while the completeness criteria according to study results (Educational Minister) of 38 students, there were 9 students who did not complete and 29 students who completed their study with the percentage of completeness of 76.5%.
