This research is truly inspired and based on the CSR program done by an institution or a company. Commonly, most of industrial companies will need support and participation from their society. It also happens to PT. Pertamina UP V Balikpapan which activities are conducted around the society. PT Pertamina UP V Balikpapan tries to conduct a closer cooperative program with their society by putting CSR program into effect. This program has been held by Hupmas division of Pertamina Balikpapan and covers many sectors. One of them is environment sector, which is compost house recycling program. According to the result of the pre-research, it is proven that although Compost house is located near the public residence the environmental awareness to take part in the program is still low. Hence, the researcher is attracted to reveal how high environmental awareness to the program of Compost House. To dig the result up, this research is conducted on the society who lives near the compost house. The theory used in this study is an awareness theory, that every behavior, opinion, and attitude, which is used to find, get, have, keep, organize, and convey something such as information or awareness is a situation when someone understand and comprehend what they feel and how to response it. In this case, we concern on the environmental awareness to the compost house. It begins from know it, understand it and then give the response to the program at last. This study is a descriptive quantitative study which is based on the survey. By using simple random sampling, the populations are 127 families. There are 56 people selected according to the criteria of this research as the sample. The characteristic of the respondent are 17 people age 25-35 years, 30 people age 36-45 years, and 9 respondents’ age 40-60 year. This data is taken by using questionnaire in form of close ended questionnaire and documentation. The data is analyzed by using formula Mean ( ) which is taken from dividing mark (X) by the total of respondent (N) The result of this research taken from 56 respondents by using 30 questions and 5 choices for every question shows that the Mean ( ) is 4,025. According to the interpretation theory, 4,025 can be categorized to Very good. Hence, it can be concluded that the environmental awareness is very good to the CSR program of Compost house.
