This study examines the vocabulary acquisition in preschool children. The term "language acquisition" is intended as a process conducted by a child to achieve a smooth and successful mastery of their native language fluently. The term "acquisition" we use as a substitute for 'learning', because learning tends to be used by psychologists in a more specific understanding of the frequently used by people. Vocabulary is an essential part of a language and mastery of vocabulary is an important part of language proficiency. Thus, vocabulary must be mastered well. Preschool children who have not received a formal language lessons, is part of the process of language acquisition. Language acquisition in children is an important study as a basis for formal language learning at school. The purpose of this study is to investigate and obtain complete description of (1) a form of vocabulary acquisition, and (2) use the vocabulary of kindergarten children based on the context. To achieve the above goal, this study used a qualitative descriptive method. Data was collected using interviews and participant observation techniques. Instruments in this research is the tape recorder and notebook. This research takes the child objects at the preschool level, kindergarten students Kartini Dringu Probolinggo district. Data processing technique is based on the type he and based on the context. Based on the results of data analysis above, the obtained results as follows. First, a kindergartner vocabulary includes nouns, verbs, adjectives and word tasks. Second, the use of child vocabulary context of the situation turned out to contain language that can be classified into six: (1) the context of puppets (2) the context of the purpose, (3) formal context, (4) the context of the speaker and the listener's mood, (5) context object , (6) context fittings talk or hear. In addition, the acquisition of vocabulary of children embraces not only the ability to use vocabulary but also include the ability to understand the vocabulary it uses. From the analysis performed there is an interesting characteristic is the existence of mixed code in Indonesian and Javanese. The mix of code that occurs in the form of Java language suffix-no,-en,-in that is used by the Indonesian language. In addition, there are also his use of the suffix, which in Javanese form-ne. The existence of mixed code is a reality that teachers face in teaching languages in class. This characteristic is certainly a good input for kindergarten teachers as well as Indonesian teachers at the next level.
