In this study, the writer analyzed on the main character’s social conflict, how she solved her social conflict. The writer used descriptive qualitative research design in which it was only purposed to describe and interpret what exist in the novel. Meanwhile, the technique used in this study is library research. Moreover, the writer employed expressive approach because a literary work primarily in relation to the author or in this view a work of literature expresses the feeling of the person who wrote it. The object of this study focused on analyzing the main character’s social conflict. After analyzing the problems, the writer concludes, that there are two social conflicts faced by Laura as a main character: a) Laura’s social conflict with Honda Motor Company in Tokyo Japan, b) Laura’s social conflict with Ms.Mori. Laura’s social conflicts in the novel “The Accidental Office Lady” were: 1) Laura did not feel comfortable because all female workers in Honda Motor Company in Tokyo Japan must use uniform and secretary must serve tea to her boss everyday. 2) Laura and Ms.Mori, it happened then Laura felt uncomfortable with the ability of Ms.Mori. She was always monitoring all activities in the company, specially junior secretary. Laura’s ways to solve the social conflict were: 1) Laura succeeded to change uniform in Honda Motor Company in Japan and the uniform in her office became an optional. On the other hand, Laura failed to change serving tea by secretary, because serving tea in Japan is hobby, culture and the way of Japanese people’s life. 2) Laura solves her social conflict with Ms Mori by admiring her dedication to career and high work standards.
