Resilience is a person's general ability that is used to cope with the pressures, someone said resilient if they have the ability to interact with the surrounding environment, problem-solving skills, self-reliant, have a purpose in life, and has a religious flavor. One factor that may affect the success possible for someone to be resilient is the type of personality. This type of personality trait is a permanent tendency, disposition or character of someone who can be seen from their behavior, resilience is needed, especially for those who work as nurses. Because nurses are one of the professions that are vulnerable to the occurrence of the pressures. Success or failure of nurses in adjusting themselves to the various demands of their environment both physically and psychologically not be separated from the existing characteristics in his personality type. Characteristics that exist in the type of personality and characteristics of resilience is an important factor and closely related to their success is possible to overcome the problems that arise in their profession as a nurse. The research design used in this research is non-experimental research with this type of comparative quantitative research. Where is the independent variable (X) is a type of personality and dependent variable (Y) is resilience. Instrumenyang use the form Eysenck Personality Inventory test instrument (EPI) and Likert type scale resilience, data analysis using t-test and description of the data using a t-score. This study was conducted on April 25 to May 9, 2006 at nurses working in hospitals Gambiran Kediri. From the analysis and description of the data in this study indicate that, there is a very signifikat = (t = 3224, p = 0.002 <0.01) between personality type ekstrovet and introverted personality type in terms of resilience are recognized. This means nurses with ekstrovet personality type has a high resilience capacity dibandigkan with nurses who have introverted personality type. But there are also about 31% sebjek ekstrovet who have low resilience. This is possible because of each personality type has positive and negative characteristics that influence the resilience of each subject.
