Abstract
Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a general term to state that there is a bacteria growth in urinary tract, including infection in kidney parenchyma to infection inside bladder. Escherichia coli is the most responsible for both symptomatic and asymptomatic ISK, that is 7090%. The purpose of this study is to know the sensitivity of uropatogenous Escherichia coli to antibiotic of urinary tract infection patients in RSU Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang in the period of JanuaryDecember 2008. This study is an observational descriptive study, using cross sectional method. The sample was patients with meaningful bacteriuria on urine test with uripatogenous Escherichia coli in RSU Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang in the period of January December 2008 taken by total sampling technique. The result of the study showed that the number of urinary tract infection during JanuaryDecember 2008 was 347 cases. The UTI patients were mostly women and the most ages were productive ages (4150 yearold). Uropatogenous Escherichia coli was sensitive to Netilmycin, Amikacin, Meropenem, and Nitrofurantoin, and resisted to Amphicillin, Amoxycillin, Cefuroxim, Tetracycline, Doxycycline, and Sulfonamid.
