Abstract

The East Asia Trilateral Summit 2024, which brings together the presidents of China, Japan, and South Korea, is a watershed moment in the region's geopolitical landscape. The conference intends to resolve critical regional challenges, boost economic cooperation, and improve political stability. This paper investigates the summit's history, relevance, aims, and conclusions, as well as a thorough examination of its influence on East Asia and beyond. The Trilateral Summit, conducted at the start of the twenty-first century, has emerged as a key vehicle for stimulating conversation and collaboration among Asia's three largest countries. China's approach to the summit is determined by the country's economic, political, and security priorities. In terms of economics, China prioritizes trade with Japan and South Korea in order to promote protectionism, with the ultimate goal of ensuring long-term economic growth and strengthening regional ties. In terms of politics and security, China has consistently advocated for the demilitarization of North Korea through dialogue and diplomacy, with the goal of strengthening ties with North Korea and resolving security issues with Japan and South Korea. China's involvement at this summit is motivated by the desire to stabilize the economy, settle security challenges, and strengthen diplomatic ties. Key economic goals include promoting free trade to limit the dangers presented by global protectionism and diversifying trade ties to lessen reliance on Western markets. The conference also serves as a venue for China to push the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), collaborate on infrastructure projects, and solve regional security problems through increased collaboration.).
