Abstract
Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the world. The sport is played by two teams and each team has five players on the court. The focus of this research is to explore the impact of competition anxiety on athletes' peak performance. This study was conducted on 120
basketball student athletes from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang to determine whether or not there is an influence of the independent variable of competition anxiety on the dependent variable of peak performance. Based on hypothesis testing that has been carried out using simple regression analysis, the results show that the hypothesis is accepted with a significance value of p
= 0.000 <0.05, which means that there is a significant effect of competition anxiety on peak performance of basketball student athletes at Muhammadiyah University of Malang. Anxiety competing significantly affects peak performance in basketball student athletes at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang, with a contribution of 18.8%, therefore the hypothesis can be said to be accepted. Athletes who experience high match anxiety will find it difficult to reach peak
performance and vice versa.
