Abstract

This study aims to analyze (1) the application of multicultural education at Immanuel
Batu Middle School; (2) tolerance between religious people at Immanuel Batu Middle School;
(3) supporting factors and barriers to the application of tolerance towards religious people at
Immanuel Batu Middle School. The research method uses a type of qualitative research with
a phenomenological approach. Data collection is done through observation, interviews and
documentation. Data analysis includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation and
conclusion drawing. The results of the study: (1) the application of multicultural education
is applied in every learning process both in the classroom outside the classroom or inside
the school and outside the school, the form of the implementation of multicultural education
namely the holding of events, religious, Kartini days, and language months. (2) The form of
tolerance among religious people is the existence of freedom in carrying out the religious
Shari'a adopted by each student, a strategy so that religious tolerance is always applied,
namely with love and refraction. (3) Supporting Fator for the application of religious tolerance
in Immanuel Batu Middle School, namely the existence of supporting facilities for worship,
inhibiting factors often arise from teachers and students themselves.
