Abstract

This research discusses Russia's economic steps using the concept of energy diplomacy in facing economic sanctions imposed by the European Union after the Russia-Ukraine conflict from 2022 to 2023. Energy diplomacy itself is the use of natural resources to achieve political, economic and social goals. Energy diplomacy is also related to a country's policy to secure its natural resources through bilateral or multilateral cooperation, so this research uses the concept of energy diplomacy. This research is a qualitative descriptive study to explain how Russia utilizes its natural resources as an economic strategy after the implementation of sanctions from the European Union. The results of this research are that Russia uses its energy diplomacy for economic purposes in four ways, namely, firstly providing discounts on energy selling prices, secondly trading Russian energy to the European Union, thirdly carrying out energy cooperation with non-European Union countries, fourthly issuing a policy on the use of energy. Ruble currency in energy transactions.
