Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of psychological capital in mediating the influence of emotional exhaustion on job hopping. This research uses a quantitative approach with mediator regression analysis. The respondents in this study were 376 generation Z employees who were determined based on Isaac & Michael's table. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling with the criteria of being male or female, aged 18-26 years and employees who had resigned before their term of employment. less than 2 years. The instruments in this study used the MBI scale (Maslach Burnout Inventory), the job hopping motives scale, and the Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ). The results of this research explain that there is a significant role of psychological capital (estimate = - 0.012 ; p = 0.05) as a mediator between emotional exhaustion and job hopping. So this research becomes partial mediation, where when there is a psychological capital mediator variable, the estimated score tends to decrease compared to without the mediator variable. The implication of this research is that companies are expected to be able to reduce emotional exhaustion and increase the psychological capital of company employees with more attention.
