Abstract

Gen Z is known as the first generation of “digital natives”. The presence of technology that greatly facilitates things has led Generation Z to prefer instant solutions in their work processes. This, of course affects their mindset and the way they work. Moreover, the dynamic environmental conditions demand individuals to be able to endure and adapt to these conditions, requiring resilience to withstand challenging and changing situations like those occurring today. This study aims to determine the effect of adversity quotient on career adaptability among Generation Z employees. This research employs a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The subjects of this study are Generation Z employees, ages 18 to 29 years, totaling 308 subjects selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis in this study used simple linear regression analysis. The data collection method uses the Career Adapt-abilities Scale and the Adversity Quotient Scale. The research data was analyzed using the IBM SPSS 25 program. The results of the regression test showed that there was a significant positive influence of adversity quotient on career adaptability in generation Z employees. The adversity quotient's contribution to career adaptability was 9.2%. The results of separate regression tests show that the independent variables adversity quotient dimensions of control, origin & ownership, and endurance have a significant effect on the career adaptability of generation Z employees.
