Abstract

Currently, one of the most frequent problems of the millennial generation is the emergence of the urge or motive to frequently move from one job to another in a short time. This phenomenon is known as job hopping motives. This research formulates the hypothesis that job hopping motives can be overcome by perceived organizational support as support from the company and optimism as an illustration of millennial determination to continue a successful career and resilience in dealing with work challenges. The purpose of this research is to test optimism as a moderator variable between the influence of perceived organizational support on job hopping motives. The research subjects involved in this
research were 160 people permanent employees of PT. Dipo Star Finance in the East Java Regional who are categorized as millennials. This research uses a quantitative design and
data collection uses purposive sampling techniques. Data collection instruments used the Job Hopping Motives Scale, Survey of Perceived Organizational Support and Psychological Capital Questionnaire. Regression testing uses the Moderated Regression
Analysis (MRA) method with the help of the Process Hayes SPSS plugin. Statistical results between perceived organizational support on job hopping motives (β= -.392; p= 0.000 < 0.05) and moderating optimism on the influence of perceived organizational support on job hopping motives (β= -0.008; p= 0.004 < 0.05). It can be concluded that perceived organizational support is significantly negative on job hopping motives and the moderating effect of optimism weakens the influence of perceived organizational support on job hopping motives in millenial employees
