Narcotics abuse in Indonesia is currently increasing and targeting the younger generation. Children who abuse narcotics are subject to sanctions in the form of imprisonment. The imprisonment sanction given has quite a negative effect on the inmates, who during their detention period meet other inmates with different cases. Of course it has a big influence on the physical, mental and social development of the target children. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of implementing criminal sanctions against children in criminal acts of narcotics abuse and the obstacles to law enforcement in implementing criminal sanctions for narcotics abuse. The research method used is legal sociology, with a sociological juridical research type. The types of data sources used are primary data and secondary data. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis, drawing conclusions from the data that has been studied and then presenting the facts. The research location is the Blitar Class I Special Development Institute for Children. The author's conclusion is that the implementation of the sanctions given has not been effective because there are 1 (one) assisted children who have repeated their training in 2019. The suggestion in writing is that in imposing legal sentences on children, judges should consider what is best for the child's future. Criminal sanctions in the form of rehabilitation are the most effective sanctions for narcotics abusers.
