Abstract
The need for electrical energy is increasing every year along with technological advances and human civilization, which can lead to an electricity crisis. Utilization of sunlight as an energy source can be done by using renewable energy power plants, one of which is PV power plants. In building PV power plants, an important tool is needed, namely a power inverter. Power inverters will be more useful if used in areas with limited electricity supply. With power inverters, we can use batteries to operate household appliances. In this study, a power inverter is designed using a step-up transformer with methods consisting of system design to determine the performance of the power inverter, hardware design for the components used in the power inverter and testing for the results of using the power inverter including voltage testing, efficiency and output signals from the power inverter. Power Inverter Planning. Mosfets function as components that convert electrical current from DC to AC. Transformers are used to reduce the AC voltage resulting from the conversion of the Mosfet. Good efficiency is obtained in the results. In the results of battery, transformer and load testing, it was found that the greater the current flowing in the load, the lower the battery voltage. If the output current is smaller than the input current, the greater the voltage, the smaller the input current. The greater the inverter output voltage, the greater the output voltage to the load as well.
