Abstract
The rise in cases of sexual violence in dating relationships is caused by toxic relationships. This relationship is influenced by a lack of emotional control, unbalanced communication patterns, a friendship environment and a diagnosis of unstable mental health. Therefore, the aim of this research is to determine the influence of emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication patterns in young adults who are dating on psychological well- being. The method used in this research was quantitative correlational with a total of 273 respondents with initial adult status in a dating relationship who were recruited using a purposive sampling technique. The scales used in this research are the Assessing Emotional Scale, Devito scale and psychological well being scale. The results of data analysis using multiple regression with results showing that Emotional Intelligence and Interpersonal Communication simultaneously influence Psychological Well Being (F = 0.000; α < 0.05). It is hoped that this research will contribute theoretically and practically to improving the psychological well-being of young adult couples.
