MOTIVASI DAN IMPLEMENTASI LAYANAN BANTUAN HUKUM GRATIS UNTUK MEWUJUDKAN KEADILAN SOSIAL (STUDI DI YAYASAN LEMBAGA BANTUAN HUKUM INDONESIA - LEMBAGA BANTUAN HUKUM SURABAYA POS MALANG)

This study investigates the motivation and implementation of free legal aid services provided by the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) - Surabaya and the Pos Malang Legal Aid Institute (LBH Malang) in advancing social justice. This research explores the factors that drive these organizations' commitment to offering pro bono legal assistance, by examining internal motivations and external pressures. This research uses a qualitative methodology, utilizing interviews to gather comprehensive insights. Findings suggest that core motivation stems from a deep belief in human rights and the principle of equality before the law, coupled with a commitment to addressing systemic inequalities and giving voice to the marginalized. Additionally, this study highlights the role of socio-political context and donor support in shaping the operational strategies of these organizations. In terms of implementation, this research outlines the strategies used by YLBHI Surabaya and LBH Malang, such as community outreach, legal education programs, and strategic litigation. This study concludes that free legal aid services are very important for advancing social justice in Indonesia. YLBHI LBH Surabaya Pos Malang's efforts not only provide legal justice for many individuals but also contribute to broader social change by advocating for legal reform and increasing public awareness about legal rights.
