Abstract

This research aims to analyze the relevance of changes to the marriage age limit in Law Number 16 of 2019 from the perspective of Maqashid Hifdz al-Nasl. The law changes the minimum age for marriage to 19 years for men and women. This research uses qualitative methods with a normative juridical approach. The research results show that changes in the age limit for marriage have strong relevance to the concept of Hifdz al-Nasl. Increasing the marriage age limit aims to protect reproductive health, reduce the risk of maternal and child mortality, and improve the quality of education and the family economy. All of these aspects are in line with Hifdz al-Nasl's goal of maintaining the continuity and quality of offspring. However, this research also found several challenges in implementing the law, including cultural, economic factors and public legal awareness. This research concludes that although changes to the marriage age limit are relevant to Hifdz al-Nasl, comprehensive efforts in socialization and law enforcement are needed to achieve the expected goals.
