Abstract
Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is an abnormality in the structure or function of the kidneys that occurs for ≥3 months. Anemia in the kidneys occurs due to abnormalities in the kidneys, causing them to be unable to produce adequate erythropoietin for the body. Patients are said to be anemic if the Hb number shows <14 g/dL for men and <12 g/dL for women. Folic Acid plays a role in the process of erythropoiesis so that it can increase hemoglobin levels in the body.
Objective: This study aims to describe the pattern of folic acid use in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients with anemia including type, dose, route, frequency, and duration of use in the Inpatient Installation of Dr. Iskak Tulungagung Hospital.
Methods: This study is observational using descriptive research design and conducted retrospectively. In this study, it was carried out processing Health Medical Record (RMK) data of CKD patients with Anemia for the period January 01 to December 31, 2023 at the Inpatient Installation of Dr. Iskak Tulungagung Hospital which met the inclusion criteria.
Results and Conclusion: Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that folic acid can be given single therapy (1x3 mg) po as many as 74 patients (71%), a combination of 2, namely Folic Acid (1x3 mg) po + PRC (1 kolf 500 ml) iv as many as 35 patients (58%). Patients who received folic acid therapy during KRS were 80 patients (92%) and who met the target of increasing hemoglobin levels were 85 patients (97%). The length of use of folic acid therapy mostly during hospitalization at RSUD Dr. Iskak Tulungagung 1-3 days
