Abstract
Crime is a phenomenon that occurs in the life of society, one of which is the crime of motor vehicle theft. The crime of shoplifting is a crime by obtaining an item obtained from the proceeds of crime such as theft, embezzlement, fraud, in order to gain profit. This research focuses on knowing the factors that cause the crime of shoplifting and efforts to overcome the crime of shoplifting. The purpose of this writing is to find out the criminological factors that cause the criminal act of extortion and to find out the efforts to overcome the criminal act of extortion carried out by the Jombang Regency police. The research method used is empirical juridical, with data obtained through interviews and literature studies. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods. Based on the results of the study, it shows that some of the main factors that cause the criminal act of extortion, known factors are juridical and non-juridical factors, in juridical factors emphasizing proper law enforcement and the role of the community regarding the understanding of buying goods from legal sources. Meanwhile, in non-juridical factors, it is known that economic factors and ignorance factors are triggers for the perpetrators of the crime of extortion. In an effort to overcome criminal acts, firm and careful steps must be taken. Effective handling. Effective handling of the crime of extortion requires cooperation between law enforcement, government and society as important elements in order to create a safer and more orderly environment
