A dispute over inheritance distribution in Jombatan Village, Jombang Regency, was experienced by the heirs of the late Mr. Tukijo in 2023. This happened because Mr. Tukijo's stepson, Joko Subiyono, wanted to get a share of the inheritance, because he had worked hard to care for his parents while he was still alive. life. Settlement of disputes regarding inheritance is carried out through discussions between the heirs through mediation. Through this mediation, the parties succeeded in reaching an agreement whereby Joko Subiyono, as his stepson, and the other heirs were given an equal share of the inheritance in the form of 81 square meters of land. The purpose of this writing is to understand and find out the role of the village head in distributing land inheritance due to grants to stepchildren, along with the obstacles.
