Abstract

The current implementation of the learning system in Indonesia is called the kurikulum merdeka. The kurikulum merdeka system requires students to be more active in finding out before being explained by the teacher, which often creates stress among students, especially academic stress. The aim of this research was to examine the role of self-efficacy on academic stress in high school students who experienced the implementation of the kurikulum merdeka. The non-experimental quantitative research design used a causality approach and was carried out on SMA X students who implemented the kurikulum merdeka program. The subjects of this research were active students in grades 10 and 11 aged 15-18 years, totaling 265 respondents using purposive sampling techniques. Data obtained using The Academic Self-Efficacy Scale (TASES) and Perception of Academic Stress Scale (PASS) questionnaires. The data analysis method used is simple linear regression using SPSS version 25.0. The research results show that self-efficacy has a positive effect on academic stress. The contribution of self-efficacy to academic stress is 11.6%. The implications of this research can provide experience and insight regarding educational development and can be used as an alternative to academic problems
