Abstract

On 15 March 2019, New Zealand experienced terror attacks at two mosques in the city of Christchurch that killed 51 people and injured others. As one of the safest countries in the world, this incident was shocking and unprecedented. This research is very important and interesting because this tragedy highlights the dangers of intolerance and hatred that can trigger violence. Therefore, the focus of this research is how the counter-terrorism efforts of New Zealand after the terrorist acts at the Christchurch City mosque. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive research study with a literary study through working papers, journals, books, and articles related to the research topic. The results of this study show that New Zealand took counter-terrorism measures through two approaches, namely internal efforts and external efforts. Internal efforts are carried out by paying attention to social aspects, security politics, media and public communication. While external efforts are carried out through bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
