Abstract

Mathematics is an important subject to study because it is a scientific discipline that can improve thinking skills and mindset to solve problems in everyday life. This research aims to describe students' mistakes in working on story questions on SPLDV material using the kastolan classification in terms of the results of student learning achievement. The type and research approach used is qualitative research using a descriptive approach. The subjects used in this research were 8th grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 06 Dau whose address is Jl.Margo Basuki No 48, Jetis, Mulyoagung, Kec.Dau. Regency. Malang, East Java. Data collection used was by carrying out written tests and interviews as well as documents in the form of learning results taken from report card grades. The results of this study stated that in the high group, students did not experience conceptual or procedural errors and did not experience calculation errors or technical errors. In the medium group of students, it was stated that they understood concepts and procedures well enough, but this group of students still experienced calculation errors. Meanwhile, in the low group, students experienced errors at the kastolan stage where they experienced conceptual, procedural and calculation or technical errors.
